In our beloved country India too, many types of travel services are available to meet the various needs and preferences of tourists. Often their branch offices or representatives are also active in almost all major places. Some of the travel services available for tourism in this area are as follows, which are operated from individual level to organized level.

Tour operators are also important among those who provide such service/facility. The desire to go somewhere is actually our deep inner self. The natural connection is a constant effort to bring us closer to each other. Some people, some places keep calling us continuously. Those voices are not meaningless. Those who start listening to those voices, they start following those voices. Have you heard any such voice?

This line has been very popular in the world of religion and spirituality that Jo Brahmande Soyi Pinde Jo Khojaye So Paave. This line is taken from the popular words of Bhakt Pipa Ji. Saint Pipa Ji was a popular ruler, great saint and poet. His life has always been and will remain inspiring. This line of his tells about the universe and unity and also indicates its discovery. Only lucky people.

In reality, our wandering here and there is the result of the restlessness of the inner mind, knowingly or unknowingly. Due to this restlessness, people get addicted to alcohol and due to this they go here and there and get stuck in some new place or the other. Still, peace of mind is not found. But if the thirst to see the hidden universe awakens while sitting, then the joy of that discovery is different. This discovery not only makes you travel to a particular location or station but also beyond the stars. Just a little thirst and a little regular meditation and it starts feeling as if you have gone beyond the skies. As long as you sit with your eyes closed, you will feel like travelling in this distant universe. The feeling of living in the world will also remain.

But not everyone experiences this feeling at first. The inner thirst starts awakening. Due to this thirst, many want to go to some far-off station. It is very good to have desire and thirst, but is it right and necessary to go far away for general tourism? Can't this thirst be quenched by staying in your own vicinity? You can also find nearby tourist spots. Let's have a look at the benefits and challenges of both.

There is a thrill and romance in going far away. The peaks of mountains touching the sky. If you stand in a village high up on a mountain and look down, then the floating clouds and flying peacocks appear to be a very sweet sight. At night, the stars can be seen by looking down there, then one feels, oh brother, how did the stars come down to the earth?

The water flowing in the plains is so pure that it looks completely transparent. Its coolness and its taste are also supernatural. The life of the hill people, the temples built at small and big places at various places evoke a different kind of faith. Means of transportation through rail and road, the dhabas and other shops opened at various places, all these have a different kind of attraction.

There are some difficulties in going to far-off places and there are many benefits of it too. By going far away, you get to see the culture of people from far away. You will also find many similarities with them. You will also get to know many new dishes in terms of food. You will also get to experience how people dress there. However, whether the clothes are home or outside, they are made according to personal convenience keeping in mind the local lifestyle.

By going far away, you will also experience new culture and traditions. Along with this, you get to know the culture, food, and customs of different places. You get to know about the customs, days, festivals, omens, literature and art of those places.

There are many exciting experiences in such travels. In this case also, new and unique experiences are available like trekking in the mountains, desert safari, enjoying the beaches etc. Those who want to pursue all these fields, they also get a good career many times. You also get the fun of adventurous activities separately. You also get ample opportunity to do activities like skiing, scuba diving and mountaineering. Overall, even a little time spent in this journey of life becomes very memorable.

Similarly, there are many advantages of visiting nearby and nearby places. Firstly, you stay close to your original residential center. In today's time, it is easy to keep an eye on the household. Secondly, traveling to nearby places is done at a lesser cost. In the case of transportation, the cost of travel is less because the cost of long-distance travel is saved. A special skill campaign launched for to make the Indian tourism more attractiv.  This training programme before the G-20 summit will act as a milestone in the development of Indian tourism: Shri G. Kishan Reddy

Taxi/Cab Drivers are Brand Ambassadors in the promotion of tourist places of India: Union Tourism Minister

Key Highlights:

299 candidates attended the training, out of them 165 are male as compared to 134 female beneficiaries

Candidates have been given inputs on soft skills, behavioural skills, personal and workplace hygiene, places of tourist importance in Delhi, First Aid, COVID Protocol, Foreign language, etc. via theoretical as well as practical means during the training

“India is presiding over the G-20 summit for the next one year from 1st December 2022. Emerging economies of the world are participating in this summit. More than 200 meetings will be held in more than 55 different places during this summit. People of the world are eager to see India, they are not just tourists for us, but also influencers of India. I think this training programme before the G-20 summit will act as a milestone in the development of Indian tourism.” Union Tourism Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy said this during the skill training certificate distribution programme for Taxi/ Cab/ Coach drivers under Tourism Awareness Programme today in New Delhi.

Under the Capacity Building for Service Provider programme of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management-AIH&TM, HRD division of ITDC conducted the training of Taxi/Cab/Coach drivers under Tourism Awareness Program (fully sponsored by MoT) on Behavioural & soft skills with one basic foreign language viz. French and German and Arabic.  Managing Director of  ITDC Shri G. Kamala Vardhana Rao  and other officials  of  ITDC were also present on this occasion.

During his address Shri G. Kishan Reddy congratulated Ashoka Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management, HRD Division of ITDC for conducting this training programme. Shri Reddy said that the aim of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is to take tourism  to New heights  in India. For this, the Modi government has implemented many types of training programmes and schemes. The objective of this training is to honecthe Persnewonal & Professional Skills of Taxi/Cab Drivers, so that they can interact and communicate effectively with Domestic and International Tourists. Our Taxi/Cab Drivers are Brand Ambassadors in the promotion of tourist places of India. “I have been informed that candidates have been given inputs on soft skills, behavioural skills, personal and workplace hygiene, places of tourist importance in Delhi, First Aid, COVID Protocol, Foreign language, etc. via theoretical as well as practical means during the course. Trade Experts from the industry conducted their classes and literature in the form of booklet was also distributed”, he added.

Shri Reddy informed that 299 candidates attended the training. Out of the total candidates, 165 are male beneficiaries as compared to 134 female beneficiaries. Candidates who successfully completed the course are provided with a stipend of Rs. 300/- per day as per the scheme.

This training programme was inaugurated by Chairman of ITDC Dr. Sambit Patra on 18.06.2022 at the Ashok Hotel. Various industry experts along with leading Taxi associations and approx. 300 no. drivers were also present during the inaugural function. The programme was conducted in various batches by AIH&TM, HRD division of ITDC at its campus located at Samrat Hotel in association with Rajdhani Taxi association and others who supported in mobilizing the drivers, wherein AIHTM has trained 299 candidates under the scheme.

Development of Sustainable and Responsible Tourist Destinations Was the main issue

The workshop witnessed wide participation of senior Government officials and Tourism industry stakeholders of States/ Union Territories of Central and Western region viz. Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Goa

Ministry of Tourism’s Travel for Life campaign was also introduced in the workshop

In order to develop sustainable and responsible tourist destinations and promote sustainable tourism in the Country, Ministry of Tourism in association with IITTM, UNEP and RTSOI organised a first regional workshop on Development of Sustainable and Responsible Tourist Destinations at Khajuraho on 29th November, 2022. The workshop witnessed wide participation of senior Government officials and Tourism industry stakeholders of States/ Union Territories of Central and Western region viz. Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Goa.

Keynote address at the workshop was delivered by Shri Prashant Ranjan, Director, Ministry of Tourism. He highlighted the need of sustainability in tourism and significance of Centre, State and Industry collaboration in achieving the objective. He also spoke about the Prime Minister’s vision for environmental sustainability. He underscored how tourism can be aligned with LiFE Mission. He introduced the Travel for LiFE campaign launched by Ministry of Tourism.

Shri Uttank Joshi, Assistant Director General, Ministry of Tourism shared success stories of Swadesh Darshan 1.0, a flagship centrally sponsored scheme of Ministry of Tourism for creating tourism infrastructure in the country. He also gave an overview of Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and how it integrates sustainability in destination development.

Shri Anirudh Chaoji an eminent eco-tourism practitioner and representative of RTSOI deliberated with the participants on sensitising the tourist and creating a demand for responsible travel.

Ms. Manisha Chaudhary shared some landmark efforts like the Global Tourism Plastics initiative and the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism launched in November 2021 in climate change CoP 26.  She encouraged stakeholders to join such initiatives and set targets to  address triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss in alignment with national and global commitments for sustainable development.

Presentations were also made by representatives of State Tourism Departments Central and Western region, calling attention to their best practices in sustainable tourism.

Central Nodal Agency for Sustainable Tourism, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management briefed the participants about the salient features of Sustainable Tourism Criteria for India (STCI). The participants also took the Travel for LiFE pledge to commit themselves towards travelling responsibly. 

Grassroot industry stakeholders also presented their innovative ways of implementing sustainable tourism in different regions of central and western regions to create tangible positive impact.

The workshop strengthened the engagement among the Ministry of Tourism, State Governments/ UT Administrations and Industry stakeholders towards achieving Sustainability Goals.

Cabinet approves MoU between India and Korea

 MoU for strengthening cooperation in the field of Tourism

The Minister of State for Tourism (I/C), Shri Alphons Kannanthanam and the Tourism, Culture & Sports Minister of South Korea, Mr. Do Jong-hwan exchanging the signed documents of an MoU to enhance tourism cooperation between India and South Korea, in New Delhi on November 05, 2018 (PIB photo)

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Korea for strengthening cooperation in the field of Tourism.

The main objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding are:

To expand bilateral cooperation in tourism sector

To increase Exchange of information and data related to tourism

To encouraging cooperation between tourism stakeholders including Hotels and Tour Operators

To establish exchange programmes for cooperation in Human Resources Development

To encourage Investment in the Tourism and Hospitality sectors

To exchange visits of Tour Operators / Media / Opinion Makers for promotion of two-way tourism

To exchange experience in the areas of promotion, marketing destination development and management

To encourage participation in travel fairs/exhibitions in each other's country and

Promoting safe, honorable and sustainable tourism.

Background:

India and Korea have enjoyed a strong diplomatic and long economic relationship. The two parties now desiring to strengthen and further develop the established relationship for strengthening cooperation in the field of Tourism.

Korea is one of the leading tourist generating markets for India from East Asia. Signing of the MoU with Korea will be instrumental in increasing arrival from this source market.
